Medico-legal Consulting & Neuroradiology Imaging Review
At Default Mode Network, we combine medical expertise with extensive medico-legal experience to provide clear, accurate reviews of brain, spine, and head & neck imaging (MRI, CT).
Our neuroradiology experts assess each case to identify the presence—or absence—of injury, and clearly explain the medical findings, causes, and implications. We help attorneys and courts understand complex medical evidence with clarity, transparency, and efficiency.
Common Case Types and Consultation Topics
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) interpretation and correlation with advanced imaging
Assessment of imaging in stroke, hypoxic-ischemic injury, or anoxic brain injury
Evaluation of brain and spinal cord injury in personal injury or malpractice cases
Review of advanced imaging techniques including Diffusion Tensor Imaging, Functional MRI, MR Spectroscopy, and Arterial Spin Labeled Perfusion imaging (DTI, fMRI, MR Spectroscopy, ASL)
Imaging findings in cases involving cognitive decline, dementia, or neurodegeneration
Interpretation of head and neck imaging in liability or disability claims
Second-opinion reads for disputed neuroradiologic findings
Expert witness case review and testimony in civil or criminal litigation
Consultation on the standard of care in neuroradiologic imaging and reporting
Imaging analysis related to timing and mechanism of injury

He graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University (B.S., 1997) and earned his M.D. from the University of South Alabama (2001). He completed residency and fellowship training at Wake Forest University and holds board certification in Radiology (2006) and Neuroradiology (CAQ, 2008). Dr. Pollock has authored nearly 70 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed to numerous academic and scientific endeavors, including patents, grants, and invited lectures. His clinical and research interests center on advanced MRI techniques including perfusion imaging including ASL and DSC perfusion, functional MRI (fMRI), diffusion tenson imaging (DTI), MR Spectroscopy, and head and neck imaging. He has held leadership roles at OHSU, including Director of MRI, Director of Functional MRI, and Director of the Neuroradiology Fellowship Program, and was recognized as Teacher of the Year (2010). He is a Fellow of the American Society of Functional Neuroradiology, serves on national ACR panels, and is a senior member of the ASNR.
